The Portsmouth Welcoming Community is a Community of Christ congregation. We believe that our actions as well as our words must bear witness to Jesus' sermon on the Mount. That sermon calls for tearing down walls that divide, discriminate, exclude, shame and exploit others.
The defining goal of Portsmouth Welcoming Community is the inclusion, love, and equality of all. In commitment to this goal, we aspire to build spiritual and socio-economic relationships based on meeting the needs of the most vulnerable. We pledge to openly stand up for racial, gender, ethnic and LGBTQ+ equality in our church and community. |
Community of Christ has 250,000 members in more than 60 nations. The church’s mission is to “proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.” Community of Christ International Headquarters is located in Independence, Missouri, USA.
